I want to use announce style 0 - http://wiki.vc-mp.org/images/d/dd/TextStyle0.jpg but I need a method to hide player's chat for show it normal.

I don't think there is a way to do that. I remember in Vice Players (or was it VC-O?) they moved the position of the box for it to be readable

chat is absolutly part of vcmp gui, i dont think it so hard to make function (i mean method for us) to hide/show it :/

Do we really need such a function now that we have GUIs?

Alpha of the text would be nice. since it could be possible. Then server owners could set bind keys for fully visible or not at all. Of course you could see a message if in attempting to write one... but might be capable of setting the alpha of the message box as well. I support this

For single-player atmosphere - yes. Of course alot of ways to make "legend" via gui, but not in this screen's location...
