Well its supposed to be ESNet (with E, S and N capital) because the 'estate' part was dropped

Besides, they have proper ops that know what they're doing and have multiple servers. You have neither.

Wouldn't it honestly make more sense to use the IRC network that the VC:MP development team actually operates? maxo and I are operators on LUNet and the LU team are still VC:MP developers proper.

Your pitch is flawed in that respect. What reason do we have for abandoning LUNet for an untested network?
