Embedding squirrel

Is there a detailed guide anywhere about how to embed Squirrel into a project?
All I could find is the official documentation which unfortunately is very difficult to understand.

You have the official plugin at your disposal. If not, there's also this plugin. And then there are all the released modules/plugins in the plugins section. There's plenty of information to learn from. There's also the source code. But don't expect to become some expert on it any time soon.

If you can't get started with all those examples then I'd suggest to stay away from it.
