windows 8.1 usb mouse not working?

anyone know how to get the usb mouse working in windows 8.1? tried updating the usb mouse drivers etc and even set the affinity to cpu 0 but it doesnt work . if i keep pressing esc numerous times after 20 tries it by chance might work.

any help ?

i have i7 cpu
gtx 980

windows 8.1

yes tried the dinput8.dll but then the game doesnt start at all

0.4 or 0.3? I've had this for ages on 0.3, but 0.4 works fine.

Install this and run gta-vc with Windows 7 compatibility mode.
It should work fine. You can also try to enter menu, move mouse few seconds and back to the game. I had similar issue.
