A client update has been released for 04rel002.

  • Fixed issues with UIDv2 on some machines by adding a fallback mechanism. Machines that still don't work with this will generate a UID of all zero (00000000[...]) until this is fully resolved.
  • Nametag fonts are now configurable with the tag_fontname option, and Arial is the new default tag font.
  • Fixed remote players firing spaz infinitely.
  • Tried fixing nametags being able to take up a majority of the screen when close to another player.

This update will take effect upon loading the browser or joining a 04rel002 server.
#86
Multiple client updates have been released for 04rel002.

Update 1
  • All sprites (including absolutely positioned/non-relative sprites) now scale according to the resolution of the game window.
    • The scaling ratio is calculated as (ScreenWidth / 1024, ScreenHeight / 768)
    • See Update 3 for further developments.
  • Fixed sprites making calculations based on the resolution of the screen, and not the game window.
  • Fixed screenshots failing if game_windowed was set to 0.
  • Fixed an uncaught exception that could cause the game to crash while connecting.
  • Reverted a change that made players who were in the middle of shooting send more sync packets.

Update 2
  • Fixed an "abnormal program termination" error that could occur under certain circumstances when joining a server.

Update 3
  • Only relatively positioned sprites are auto-scaled now.

This update will take effect upon loading the browser or joining a 04rel002 server.

An update for VC:MP 0.4 (04rel002) servers has been released.
  • Added support for UID2. UID2 is more resilient to tampering by malicious players. (This does not replace UID1, and any existing UID bans will not be invalidated.)
  • Fixed a crash that could be caused by a malformed or malicious packet.
  • Fixed a regression where players could trigger death events without being spawned.
  • Fixed a bug where players could possibly spawn without being authorized to do so.

This update does not significantly alter the SDK, so a plugin update is not required.

A client update has been released for 04rel002.
  • UIDv2 is now sent to the server on joining. Old servers will discard this information.
  • Fixed the game not respecting the server's max height setting

This update will take effect upon loading the browser or joining a 04rel002 server.

May 06, 2015, 03:50 PM
This board is for any discussions that don't fit into the other boards, including (for example):
  • Discussion of other video games or mods that are not VC:MP
  • News discussion
  • IRC logs
  • Hilarious memes and YouTube videos

What this board is not for is:
  • Anything violating the main forum rules
  • Debates about politics and religion
  • Direct attacks on other players or forum members
  • Spamming garbage because it's "off topic lol"

A client update has been released for 04rel002.

Hotfix 1
  • The client is now statically linked and should not require the Visual C++ 2013 redistributables.
  • Screenshots are no longer post-processed in the main game loop, and should no longer hang the game for a second or longer.
  • Screenshots in windowed mode no longer capture the entire desktop.
  • Other players' reload animations now play when they are reloading.
  • Fixed players appearing to shoot while reloading automatic weapons such as the M4.
  • Players who are in the middle of firing their weapon now send slightly more sync packets.
  • Players can no longer use the spawn menu while spectating.
  • Players no longer automatically reconnect after being kicked or banned.
  • Fixed players punching with fists not appearing to punch.
  • Attempted a fix for shotguns appearing to not fire on every other shot, when fired in rapid succession.

Hotfix 2
  • Fixed players appearing to jitter in place when beginning to move out of a shooting animation.

Hotfix 3
  • Fixed an anti-slide fix not taking effect when standing and breaking out of a shooting animation.

This update will take effect upon loading the browser or joining a 04rel002 server.

EDIT: Added an undocumented bugfix.
#91
Steps to Reproduce
  • Get a car
  • Block car on one side with a building
  • Have another player as a passenger on the unblocked side
  • Attempt to enter through the blocked door

Players will appear to be jacking the car but simply slide around on other screens. The player ends up getting "ejected" from the vehicle for taking too long to enter.

Reproducible by kicking in onPlayerJoin according to Gudio. Bug split from a closed issue it was attached to. This topic is for bookkeeping purposes.

With the 0.3 masterlist now effectively shut down, the old forums have been relocated from their old server to our current web servers on a special archive site:

http://archive.vc-mp.org

An archive of the forums from 2007 to 2011 has also been restored from backups on the old server. Posts between 2011 and 2012 that were lost in the account breach could not be recovered.

These forums are completely read-only for all non-developer users (including beta testers). Registrations have been disabled, and functionality such as changing avatars, sending messages, posting, etc. is unavailable. The only other changes made were upgrades to the forum software, so all posts and topics are as they appeared when the backups were made.
#94
This update primarily involves Linux servers that have been unable to run plugins due to ambiguous initialization errors or missing dependencies. Whereas all plugins used to be built on an unstable Debian server, all Linux plugins have been recompiled on a completely fresh Debian 6 (Squeeze, oldoldstable) virtual machine.

0.4-announce (for ALL platforms)
  • A thread is now used for announcing instead of non-blocking sockets.
  • Rewrote the plugin to add error-checking everywhere necessary.

Note: If the new announce plugin loads but does not work for you, please add announce_verbose to your server.cfg file and restart it. Post any relevant log output for debugging.

Updated binaries are available on the project page:
https://bitbucket.org/stormeus/0.4-announce/downloads

All other plugins
  • Rebuilt all Linux plugins on Debian 6 to target servers that are not fully up-to-date with libc.

If you are not a Linux user, no changes have been made.

A new Linux plugin package has been uploaded to allow plugins to be updated en-masse:
64-bit: http://v04.maxorator.com/files/plugins/mp04rc2_plugins64_linux.zip
32-bit: http://v04.maxorator.com/files/plugins/mp04rc2_plugins32_linux.zip

Individual plugins may be downloaded on their respective plugin project pages:

This is another update rollup with relatively significant changes. Because some changes alter currently defined behavior, this update bumps the version up to 04rel002.

Server Update Released
  • Added -appendname as a command line option for server hosts.
  • Added the following plugin calls:
    • ToggleWallglitch — enables or disables wallglitching for all players on a server
    • EnabledWallglitch — returns if the setting above has been enabled
    • SetVehicleSiren — enables or disables the siren for a vehicle
    • GetVehicleSiren — returns if a vehicle's siren is on or not
  • SetVehicleAlarm and GetVehicleAlarm now handle the status of the car alarm, and not the siren.
  • Maximum server name length has increased from 64 to 128 characters.
  • Default weather changed from cloudy (1) to partly cloudy (0).

Windows Server (x86)
Windows Server (x64)
Linux Server (x86)

Client Update Released
  • Radar blips now appear for unoccupied vehicles around you.
  • The client now automatically reconnects to servers every three seconds. The amount of times it does this can be configured with game_reconattempts. Setting this to -1 will reconnect indefinitely. Setting this to 0 disables it altogether.
  • Added support for configurable wallglitch settings.
  • Car alarms and sirens are no longer tied together.
  • Fixed siren sounds playing when a vehicle with its siren on has exploded.
  • Clients now report when they bump into objects while driving vehicles.
  • Fixed rocket launcher and sniper sounds playing twice when shooting.
  • The key for entering vehicles as a passenger is now configurable (game_passengerkey), and takes a value of a numeric key code.
  • Fixed spawning with FIRE key, again.
  • Fixed people sliding around while shooting or crouching, again.
  • Fixed a hole in the downtown shooting range where interior switching would put you in the main world.
  • Fixed rockets launching with weird rotations when using the Hunter.

The update will automatically download and install upon joining an up-to-date 0.4 server.

Plugins Update Released
The updated SDK can be found here:
https://bitbucket.org/stormeus/0.4-squirrel/src/231e03806f01a2da20c1d83c260c713f39aac409/VCMP.h?at=master

Plugins which will not be using the new server functions do not need to be rebuilt.

On top of the SDK update, the following plugins have received additional updates:

Squirrel
  • Added Vehicle.Siren
  • Added Get/SetKillDelay and Get/SetWallglitch
  • Fixed skin IDs above 160 having no names for GetSkinName
  • Fixed the following vehicles not being represented in GetVehicleModelFromName:
    • Banshee
    • BF Injection
    • Bloodra (Bloodring Racer #1)
    • Bloodrb (Bloodring Racer #2)
    • Bus
    • Comet
    • Hermes
    • Hotrina (Hotring Racer #2)
    • Hotrinb (Hotring Racer #3)
    • Moonbeam
    • Phoenix

  • Attempted to fix an issue where print() calls with more than 512 characters crash

Updated binaries can be found here:
https://bitbucket.org/stormeus/0.4-squirrel/downloads

Sockets
  • Statically linked libgcc to reduce dependencies on Linux.

Only Linux users who have been unable to run this plugin should have to update.

Updated binaries can be found here:
https://bitbucket.org/stormeus/0.4-sockets/downloads

SQLite
  • Recompiled to fix issues with ConnectSQL being unavailable.

Only Linux users who have been unable to run this plugin should have to update.

A minor client update has been released for 0.4 Release Candidate 2.
  • Players should no longer appear to slide around when breaking out of a shooting/crouching state.

This update will take effect upon loading the browser or joining a RC2 server.
#97
A minor client update has been released for 0.4 Release Candidate 2.
  • Windowed mode is disabled by default, and game_framereserve is set to 10 by default.
  • Added config option game_streammem, which allows you to modify the stream memory limit (in megabytes) of VC.
  • Increased the default stream memory limit from 40MB to 80MB to fix issues with textures not loading properly.

This update will override all configurations on first run to reset the first two settings in order to ensure high quality gameplay for all players. Anyone who had different settings is free to change the settings back after this update is applied.

This update will take effect upon loading the browser or joining a RC2 server.

A browser update was also pushed to ModDB which makes it mandatory for new players to change their name from UnknownPlayer, and bundles the Visual C++ redistributables with the installer rather than making it a web download.

In other news: Phasing out 0.3 and its masterlist

This update largely serves as a rollup of fixes and feature implementations aimed at getting closer to a release we can mark as "final." Please note that some issues may still pop up, and though these changes were tested locally on a development environment, these changes may introduce new issues that will be fixed incrementally.

Client RC2 Update Released
  • Sprites and textdraws can now be relatively positioned
    • Relatively positioned sprites and textdraws use a 1024x768 display as the baseline. Their position is scaled up or down according to each player's resolution.
  • Ghost vehicles now using collision filtering instead of broken game flags
  • Tank turrets, firetruck hoses, and Predator cannons are now synced
  • Fixed the Cuban Cafe using LOD models
  • Shifted some skins to fix a previously available ped being unusable
  • The "Using all keyboards" functionality from the END key has been rebound to the PAUSE key

The update will automatically download and install upon launching the browser or joining an up-to-date 0.4 server.

If you don't have a browser, go to the downloads section of http://www.vc-mp.org to get one.

Server RC2 Update Released
  • Linux servers now handle Ctrl+C (SIGINT) and other signals gracefully, allowing it to exit properly
  • Fixed a potential exploit that would allow sync packets from unjoined players
  • Added a new plugin calls:
    • ShutdownServer for shutting down the server with plugins
    • GetPlayerWantedLevel for getting a player's wanted level. (previously write-only)
    • SetTextdrawRelativity and SetSpriteRelativity for setting if either is relative
    • GetVehicleTurretRotation for tanks
    • ToggleOnlyShowTeamMarkers for emulating ShowOnRadar 2 from the 0.3 Squirrel server. If this is enabled and ToggleShowMarkers is also enabled, players will only be able to see markers of teammates.
  • Modified CreateSprite and CreateTextdraw to require a bIsRelative parameter
  • OnEntityPoolChange is now called for blips, radio stations, sprites, and textdraws
  • Significantly updated the plugin API to reflect new features; old plugins may not run as expected

All official plugins for 0.4 have been updated due to major, potentially breaking SDK changes. Any third-party plugins for 0.4 should also be updated to use the new SDK to avoid crashes or unexpected behavior.

The updated SDK can be found here:

On top of the SDK update, the following plugins have received additional updates:

Squirrel
  • Player.WantedLevel is now available and can be used for getting and setting wanted levels.
  • Sprite.SetRelativeForAll/Player and Textdraw.SetRelativeForAll/Player have been added
  • Vehicle.TurretRotation is available and acts as a Vector with a constantly-zero Z element.
  • ShutdownServer(), SetShowOnlyTeamMarkers(bool) and GetShowOnlyTeamMarkers() are now available.
  • Various incremental fixes from the community. (Special thanks to @Gudio, @Thijn and @S.L.C)
    • Added Player.PutInVehicleSlot
    • Fixed issues with onPlayerCrouchChange
    • Fixed GetVehicleModelFromName not including the Taxi and not returning correct values for some vehicles
    • Fixed GetWeaponDataValue returning bools
    • Fixed Vehicle.Rotation returning malformed quaternions
    • Fixed GetPickupCount returning vehicle counts instead of pickup counts
    • Added GetObjectCount
    • Added constants for keys and missing functions from some objects
    • Added GetSkinID

server.conf Loader
  • <ShowOnRadar>2</ShowOnRadar>, like 0.3 Squirrel, is a valid setting now. This will show markers for teammates, but no one else.

Updated binaries are available on each plugin's respective download page.

Thanks to bakasan generously reprovisioning access to the original VC:MP web server, we are beginning to phase out VC:MP 0.3 and its masterlist.

As of this posting, vicecitymultiplayer.com redirects to our new website at vc-mp.org, and is marked as a "permanent" redirect in order to make it clear to search engines that this is our new address. This is intended to encourage users to begin using 0.4 over 0.3.

We will also be launching a number of locked dummy servers to show users browsing the 0.3 masterlist that we are in the process of shutting it down, and warning them and server owners to transition to 0.4 immediately.

On Friday, May 1, the VC:MP 0.3 masterlist will be shut down. No new servers will be allowed to announce to it. No existing servers will appear to users trying to access the masterlist. Anyone who wishes to continue playing on 0.3 after the masterlist shutdown may do so by adding servers to their favorites list and accessing them there. However, no 0.3 servers may advertise on this forum, and no official 0.3 server builds will be provided on our website or the ModDB downloads section.

After May 1, we may begin moving the old forum and other data onto our new server here. After that point, it's up to bakasan to decide what he wants to do with the legacy web server.

The masterlist was offline for about 30 minutes, starting around 23:00 GMT.  This was caused by an unsmooth transition from SQLite to MySQL. During this time period, the masterlist would return no or malformed data, which would, at times, crash the browser due to unexpected results.

This issue appears to have been resolved, and servers should disappear at random less often, if at all. If this is still an ongoing issue, please report it immediately.
