Normally you have a control panel where you can reinstall the OS if you so desire. I think you have an old version of either CentOS or Debian. Most hosting companies come with that by default. I would suggest re-installing the OS to a newer version such as Debian 8 Jessie. That should fix the GLIBC issue.

Use ubuntu-14.04-x86_64 .Its architecture is 64bit, mind it.

Is that all you've got? If you scroll down, isn't there a newer Debian version, such as 'debian-8.0-...'. Reason I'm asking is that they don't seem to be sorted. Which means there's a possibility. If there is then install that. If it isn't then install the ubuntu like the mentioned in the post above.
